Today it has become obvious I have two broody hens on my hands. One, My Molted java has hatched chicks before, very determined and an attentive momma, The second is a blue Orpington/Leghorn cross who is full on fight to keep her nest sit all day and night broody, but its her first time.

I have 9 BR eggs cooking, on day 11 today. What are your thoughts on slipping five under my experienced broody and the other four under my newbie broody? We are able to shut them up in their separate nest allowing them out once a day after the others have laid eggs.

If it seems possible I plan to wait until 10 pm or so, take the fake eggs from them and slip the good eggs under them and then close them up

Well I took the plunge, 9 eggs total, 6 under the more experienced Java and 3 under the Leghorn/orpington cross..

Keep us posted I have a turkey hen sitting on her eggs and Muscovy duck eggs? The turkey and two ducks are sharing a nest. Won't let me near it so I'm just letting them do their thing.
