Opinion on quality of this Mille Fleur d'Uccle cockerel...

He's awfully nice...it would help to know exactly how old he is rather than just "young"...I don't see any DQ-ing all white feathers...his muff could be larger, but that could come with time...and his color will only get better...don't know that I would pay $50 for him, but that's just me...

color seems to be "ok" at best. Comb is not all that great...not alot of height. But as said above, time will help. The absence of white tipped tail feathers also comes in over time...but i was told "that one" takes the longest to come in...at least 2+ years of age.

50 bucks is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to high. Now, if he was a 1.5/2 year old bird then maby...but 50 for him now is over the top!

Actually, I believe the starting bid for the bird was $20, and an additional $50 for the shipping/box.

I put him at about 5-6 months old... don't know for sure. But SQ? Really? I would only use him to start a breeding program if he was the only one I could find. Just my humble opinion.

My girls looked good at 2 years old, but really hit their prime at 3.

. There's no telling WHERE his trates are going to end up when he's finished filling out. Too risky if you ask me. But if you got extra cash to spend..then by all means.

Here's one of my boys at 3.5 months... that's why I put the one in the ad at maybe 5-6 months.

He's no longer with us, but he filled out beautifully over the next 6 months. Now, if his wattles hadn't been mismatched... LOL! One was really short, and the other really long! But you just never know.

You pretty much confirmed my thinking... nice, but not great, could be better all around, and probably too much money for an unknown. I did remind the person asking about him that just because his parents might be SQ stock, doesn't guarantee that their offspring will win any awards.

He may be perfect in 6-9 months, but I don't think so. Not that I'm an expert or anything.

Regardless of the quality of a bird (or its lack of quality), shipping costs an average of around $50 when you include the box. It can be lower or higher, depending on the point of origin and the destination, and also on the weight. The bird itself sold for $20, which is probably a good price based upon the various comments.

Yes, it will cost the auction winner $70 if the bird must be shipped. That person may, however live close enough to pick the bird up from the seller. If not, well, they chose to bid on the bird, so it was their decision.

GREAT!! comb for a 3.5 month'er MFD!!!^^^

Yea...i understand shipping can be in the 40's and 50's for a bird, but dang...if im going throw down a "Grant" for shipping...the bird IS!! going to be worth shipping or in other word's SQ.

Actually, the bird DIDN'T sell... that was the asking bid, but the auction completed before anyone bid. Perhaps there's a reason for that.

The person that asked me about him was within driving distance, and would have picked him up. Although, today she'd probably spend $50 in gas doing the round trip! Shoot... she's in Ohio... she probably has lots of d'Uccle breeders in her own back yard and doesn't know it. I suggested she check out one of the shows and talk to the breeders. You never know what might come up for sale!
