Chickens raised in the environment you are planning should have no issue with less space and will appreciate it during cold weather. Over sized coops do not stay as warm in the winter and frost bitten combs become an issue. I combine populations from different coops every winter and never have issues.

I went to lowes & looked at the
2X2X8's
2X3X8's
2X4X8's

The 2X3's were only like 10 cents more that the 2X2's

So compair the prices where you are going to get your wood.

I got 30 boards and it was only 3 dollors more for the thicker wood.

Bryan, I love your coop, it's adorable! What a great idea to have a plastic storage shed right next to it! I'm going to do that, too. Much easier to have everything on hand. How big is your run? I was going to do a 7x13 chain link kennel, but decided to make a 8x16 run instead, which will attach to the coop and not have it inside. More space for the ladies.
