I know this is an old thread but I have a few questions about keeping a closed flock. Unfortunately my healthy flock has been infected with Coryza because I brought in a rescue bird and only kept her separated for two weeks which I thought was the appropriate time but turns out it's more like 4 weeks. I feel so guilty about infecting my healthy babies and bringing this blight upon them. I am treating them all as symptoms show up, and am considering keeping a closed flock. My questions are, if I keep a quarantined flock how likely is it that the disease will spread into the surrounding area via wild birds. Will the quality of my birds lives be drastically decreased if I treat their symptoms until the secondary infections clear? And how likely is it that the disease will kill them before old age can?
