Opinions on cochins and australorps

I've got 4 Australorps and they are calm and friendly. 2 of them follow me around when I'm working in the yard and they let my kids pet them and pick them up. I love reading outside to their chattering. The other 2 are more timid, but I like my Ausrtalorps better then our last flock of Aracunas and Rhode Island Reds.

No experience with Cochins.

Austalorps and Cochins - I don't think you can go wrong with either. I have had great experiences with both.

i pick up 2 white cochins on Monday from the hatchery. i have never had them either. I am so eggcited!!!!!!!

I hope they get along with my RSLs.

I have two black Australorps, 2 Buff Orps, and one cochin. I adore my cochin--super sweet, soft and inquisitive! One Buff is my pal--she wants to be picked up and petted, while her sister doesn't want anything to do with me. My Australorps are 6-week old chicks, so still pretty new for me. They seem really skittish and noisy so I am hoping they calm down. I have been trying to bribe them with treats, but they really are gun shy. They squawk quite a bit, especially at bed time! Is that normal?
