Opinions on my cat in the yard with chickens?

My parents did that when I was @ 8 yrs old and I never looked back! Had to live in town for a while during/after college, but I'm back where I belong, now!

I can back up all the positive kitty feedback - my killers-on-paws have nothing but respect for my chickens...but don't let them around the little ones! As for breeds, I just started in on Ameraucanas, and I can heartily recommend them. Both the true Ameraucanas and the EEs - very pretty, nice birds. And pretty eggs, too!

Have fun in your new home!

One time I had two pullets get out of their brooder box in the house. The cat left them alone (or at least let them live) I hypothesis that the cat knew they weren't food because they shared the house.

The cat watches the chickens outside, but has only stalked them once. I threw a spading fork between the cat and the birds. The cat has not tried anything since then.
