opinions on pekins?...

im thinking about getting a pekin. ive heard that they are really loud! other then that tell me your experiences with them! Are they friendly? Would getting a pekin drake eliminate most of the noise, thanks!

My pekin drake is very quiet. My girl on the other hand...Wow, is she loud. She lets everyone know if I am late with food, she wants treats, she just feels like talking, etc.

Pekin females can be a little noisy, not as noisy as geese. They are pretty friendly if they are hand raised. Mine will take treats from my hand, but now that they are with out with the runner ducks they aren't cuddly like they were as ducklings.
You could get a straight run then if the females are noisier than you like, you could probably rehome them and keep the raspy sounding males. I think ducks do better if you have more than one.
