Hi all! Wasn't sure what forum to post this in, but I was considering getting a new serama quad to add to my breeding pool, and I wanted to get the opinions of some more experienced serama breeders. I've been breeding silkies for a while, but I'm relatively new to this whole serama thing. Anyways, here are the photos from the ad for them:

It's $100 for all four. They're currently 10 months old, and are laying eggs. They're class A; I have a class B quad that I should start getting eggs from any day now, and I'll start breeding them in the spring. So! Thoughts?

Welcome to BYC.....I am not knowledgeable enuf about Seramas, but I think those are lovely. If you get them, let us know.....
Good luck!

Thank you! I'll be sure to post whether or not I get them. The other option is waiting until November 17-18, when there is a large show where lots of people trade and sell chickens. There were lots of nice seramas there last year, but I don't know how many there will be this year....

I got a reply from the breeder and she said that they would make very good show birds, her only problem with them is that they have a lower hatch rate because of their size. She recommended pairing them with some larger seramas to get a better hatch rate, so I could pair them with my class Bs. The only problem is I don't know how well the colors would go together. I'll try to get some pictures later today of my seramas so you guys can give your opinions on pairing the hens with my roosters and vice versa.

Hopefully some serama people will see this thread and join in. I think it's a really interesting breed. I didn't know they existed before seeing some at a local poultry swap.

Unfortunatley, the breeder I was going to purchase them from accidentally got me and another customer mixed up, and ended up selling them to them instead without letting me know. I am going to a show in mid-November to look for some seramas, though. I might turn this thread into sort of a recording of my journey starting out as a new serama breeder and my experiences with seramas if anyone else wants to follow the same path...

I do wish you the best and who knows you might meet someone offering some good lines at the shows.
Kindest regards,

Allen
