Opinions on using a finisher or lowering protein for the final weeks

I don’t have many people to talk about chickens to (except of course you guys) so I read a lot.

In the book “Raising Poultry Successfully” By: Will Graves

When raising roasters (20 wks) at 6 weeks you start adding grain & gradually increase the amount each week so by week 14 you are @ 50% corn (or other grain) 50% daily feed!

He says grains are not necessary with broilers (8wk)

“To finish among other things to lay on a bit of fat along with the meat, providing a more ample filled-out, and tender carcass.”
