I purchased 2 japanese bantams at 1 day old and 3 golden comets at 1 week old. I was told the comets are sex link and was guaranteed they were all girls. The bantams were a crap shoot (as most know lol). Well, the comets are now just shy of 17 weeks old and the bantams just shy of 16 weeks. They all appear (to me) to be girls but I THOUGHT I heard a slight beginning of a crow the other day. Unsure if it was from my flock or a rooster that lives down the road. Also, one of my comets does a very long drawn out sound and she does it a LOT so now I'm wondering if she is in fact a he. Can anyone please help me figure this out? I need to know because until we get moved, we cannot have a rooster where we are now. (HOA complains blah blah lol the house that has a rooster is farmhouse just outside our subdivision)
Anyway here are the pics, thanks for any input! I'm even including one of their backsides while they are on the roost. (comets)
Also, as you will see in the pictures, 2 of them have 1-2 feathers protruding from the backside, which worried me the first time I seen it because I figured roo feathers coming in. But those actually just fall out. Could that still mean that she is in fact a HE? (sorry, first time chicken owner here lol)
