I'm the type of person that hates making decisions, especially when it comes to getting rid of some animals. However, I've been wanting to get into goats for a long time. I have done my homework (I have more to do, of course) but I'm pretty sure that I have the basic care down. In order to do this, I would have to re-home my four turkeys and use their spacious yard and shed as the goat area. We would be getting them mainly as pets so milking and kidding is not important to us. That being said, we would most likely be getting three to four wethers. We're looking into Nigerian Dwarfs and Pygmies of course, but I would love other breed recommendations as well any other info. I've mainly been a poultry guy, but I would like to try something new too. The million dollar question: what would you do if you were me? All thoughts appreciated!

If I were you. I would keep what I have, ( turkeys) and just add 2 goats as pets of course. (not jump to 4 right away.) I think all can coexist together fine. Once you have the 2, you can decide which way to go... You may be very happy and keep it that way..
WISHING YOU BEST,.

Thanks so much for the advice! I might just try that!

I have a soft spot for dairy goat boys, get them as bottle babies, two at a time, they are friendly, and not as rambunctious as the miniatures, plus you're giving a home to somebody who would be eaten or culled. You can also train them to pull a cart, I like all the breeds but really like Nubian.

Great! That's my goal, to get bottle babies. I'll look into Nubians too then! Thanks a lot!
