Ahh yes, I've heard of that! Chicken math..... Is it not?
So far it appears that there is gravel about 4 inches below grade. If that remains the case the whole time, then I will put a couple more inches of gravel down then fill with dirt.
I have gathered a lot of materials this weekend for the coop. I got the shingles, a roll of insulation and a bunch if assorted lumber. I have a strong lead on free pallets from a friend. I will need about 35 pallets for the complete build. My friend should be able to get me all of them for free. If that falls through, I have another source of free pallets. Worse case scenario, I can't get them free, a local guy will sell me used 4x3 pallets for just over $3 each.
If I can get the pallets free, I should be able to do the entire build with only purchasing nails, hinges and other assorted hardware, and the fencing material.
