Opossum got a taste of my electric fence :D

Woke up this morning at 6 sharp hearing animal SCREAMS coming from the coop... Ran out to the yard without even getting dressed, and found what I thought was an opossum, running away and climbing on a tree. Looks like he got a nice shock from my electric fence The girls were all locked in the coop and safe... Phew

I have a security camera with night vision that records everything into a hard drive at home. I'll try to recover the video of the offender getting fried and upload it!

Well it turns out it was a young raccoon! He got caught in the electric fence and that's why he screamed.. When I walked outside I turned the fence off and he ran up a tree....

I should put out a camera by my coop just to see what is lurking around it at night

Mi camera is connected to my cell phone, so if I hear any suspicious noises I can check real quick. This morning the raccoon screams were so terrifying that I just darted out and checked the cams once all the action was over

I would love to get a camera on my coop/tractor but DH thinks I've lost my mind. Won't even let me get a baby monitor. I may do it anyway if I see one at Goodwill or 2nd hand shop. LOL

Thats a great setup! Have you had possums messing with your chickens before? I have killed 3 of them in my yard this year alone. Do they eat chickens? I figured racoons would be how bout the possums?
