Opposite issue, getting alerts still.

I went to my settings and have all the boxes unchecked but I still get an email every time someone responds to any thread I have been active in. I am not sure if I am missing a check box somewhere.

Can you post a screenshot of your preferences? I think it is under automatically watch threads in preferences, not alert preferences.

I just found that checkbox, Ill see if that fixes it.

Keep in mind, unchecking the box will only prevent you from watching threads you reply to after you unchecked the box, you will have to manually unwatch existing threads that you are watching.

Thanks, also in the email notifications there is a link that says disable all emails. That does not seem to work either because I usually hit that too and it has never done anything.
