Orange County NY

Hi all,
I know this is an old thread but I just joined and I'm from Orange county too :)
I'm in Greenville NY. The one near Port Jervis.

I bought 12 chicks at TSC in late April. Turns out 10 are rooster. So I bought 6 chicks from a teenager in NJ. 3 of them now have rosy colored combs and I know that means I bought 3 more roosters :( So last week I bought 11 black austrolorps and 5 production reds chicks from "Cackle hatchery" All female. I hope !
I haven't had chickens in about 15 years so I'm a newby all over again. lol
I'm hoping I have what it takes to harvest my own roosters when they are eating size. Right now they are crazy scaredy cats, and only come to me when I have food. They are Black with a few red feathers here and there. I don't think they are a real breed. Probably some farmer dropped them off, and TSC decided to sell them as (mystery blacks) I have 6 of them and 6 production reds all from TSC. 1 female of each. I'm a sucker for sure. lol
Of the ones I bought from the teenager 2 are Black austrolorps 1 m (sp) 3 are buff cochins 1 m, and 1 is a black and white ? m.
I only got chickens so I could feed free eggs to our pigs and of course some for me and my family.
At this rate I will hopefully have some laying before the piggies go to market.

We’re moving to Port Jervis this summer and I wondered if keeping chickens in residential neighborhoods was allowed?
Thanks,
Nina
