Orange Peels

My chickens are 5 months old now and have just began to lay eggs. Going to be changing their food.
Can they have orange peels as a treat?

I don't think they're supposed to have any citrus.

According to the Treat Chart (see link below), citrus is something to avoid. Unsure why. I've had peels out before and they just avoid them.

Mine won't eat citrus.

We toss citrus waste in the compost and the hens avoid it.

My chickens love fruit, and will peck the insides of the meyer lemon rinds they find in the compost.

What's the issue with citrus and chickens?
