Finn Story Alert!

This morning, before the sun was up, I was laying in bed, half awake, about 6:45 a.m., half cognizant of the wild birds chorus outside, when I hear a scritching noise above my head. Our headboard now is against a window since we switched the craft room/office with the master bedroom. So, this noise happens, then I hear a quiet "meow". I crane my neck up and what do I see through the screen? About 3/4 of an orange striped face looking in at me. That bad cat knows where we sleep and knew exactly how to wake me up. So, needless to say, I was up a little before my usual time because of Finn. He'd better not make that a habit all summer.

He spends almost no time at all inside now that the weather is warm. He does come in and out about 20x /day, though.

LOL!! Yeah he has to come in 20x a day to make sure his food is still there.

Of course. Though, he doesn't eat much now. He's getting plenty outside. Yesterday, a poor chipmunk met Finn. Gosh, even Big Ida, my largest Barred Rock hen, got her some game. I saw her gulp down a good size frog.

Good for Big Ida! Every time you mention her I see one of those female Russian weight lifters. I don't know why, it is not like her name is Big Olga. LOL!!

I was just walking back from the coop and passed Roux taking his morning nap. I am guessing Finn is doing the same right now.

Quote: Oh, my, I love that picture! He's a hoot, so much like Finn! Finn did nap but he went down the steps, jumped between them to avoid Maretta and her chicks who were eating a bowl of yogurt at the bottom, and went off to hunt. My land clearing guy didn't make it yesterday for some reason and I'm waiting to see him show up today. He said it would be only a few days and the lot would be ready to seed but he has quite a bit to do for that to happen. I imagine Finn went down there to see what he could stir up. You should have seen him sitting on a pile of logs watching the bobcat work. It was like he was asking what the heck that guy was doing to his hunting grounds.

I hope your land clearing guy shows up today and that he has good weather.

Maybe Finn was waiting on him to uncover another family of opossums?

Me, too! It's gorgeous out there, cool, dry and sunny. Best weather ever to work outside. He has to go to Cuba with the guard in November so he has to be done with it way before that time. Surely, if he pushes ahead, it will be done and ready to fence within a couple of weeks, barring super rainy weather. Maybe I can get him to bring his bulldozer into the main area and flatten me a place for my new barn, a little extra bonus. We removed most of the back perimeter fence so he could scrape the actual fence line which is full of blackberries, as is the lower lot below the one he's working now. Those things taste great but I don't need acres of them for just a few cobblers.

Did he show today?

NEW BARN!!??? Sooooo very jealous!!!

Imagine the fun Finn will have in there.

No, he didn't show up. Two days in a row. I realize he has a job elsewhere, has a farm, etc, but we started this back in December and got stopped by the winter weather. I'd like to have it over with so we can start running fencing.

Well, it's really not a barn but a big coop to take the place of our L shaped storage building-turned-coop (will be torn down), plus the original main coop (will become a storage building). I'm not even sure when I can get started on it but would be nice to have the area prepped for it before he quits work. I want a true barn. I grew up at my grandfather's farm playing in all the old buildings and the hayloft, etc. I've wanted a barn for a long time.
