Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

Pics
I am making items for a craft show in Kentucky in about three weeks where our company, Blue Roo Creations, will be represented. I was sitting in my recliner crocheting a beautiful wine red and forest green infinity scarf when Finn decided to jump into my lap. DH grabbed him immediately off my project, one where orange fur would really stand out. This is why I can't have him in the house, unfortunately. If I had a larger house where I could close off a craft room better, it might be easier to let him stay inside more, but as it is, he can only come in for short visits, and as you can see, naps in DH's chair.

Hey speckledhen, I saw this and thought of Finn. TGIF!!

I used some old yarn I got from an estate sale to make a pet bed for Finn. Either he likes it or he has no choice since it's in Dad's chair, lol. I may make some simpler ones for the local humane society. This one has a stuffed edging, but there are easier ones to do.

Morning speckledhen! Making the beds for the humane shelter is a very generous thing to do and I'm sure they would appreciate it. I was wondering if you made extras, maybe you could sell some at the craft show you mentioned. People love their pets and are usually willing to spend $$ on them. Maybe dog sweaters too?

Good morning! I'm afraid I don't have time to do any for this show and I'd have to mail them to Kentucky, too. Already have a big box of stuff going up there. I may do it for future shows if my arthritic thumb holds out, good suggestion! I bet they'd sell. You do these with 3-4 strands of yarn held together at the same time, something that is hard on my hands so I'll have to take my time doing them, but I have quite a bit of older scratchier acrylic yarn that is perfect for this use. I'm going to have to do one or two for the humane society, then put crochet aside for awhile to get back to quilting, another "by hand" project that causes some pain but I have three projects I absolutely must get back to soon.

A bed like that coast about $15 petco! That's great you can make those. I call them the "saucer" beds lol. Cats love them!
I have two other patterns to use that don't include that stuffed edge, maybe a tad easier. Finn sure seems to have taken to it, but when we go let the chickens out, he will be ousted. He looks so cozy in there, shame, eh??

I can sympathize with you over the arthritic thumb...my left thumb hardly wants to bend in the middle any more. I'm a baker (home baking) and cracking eggs for a recipe that calls for a lot of them is tough (although I figure kneading is good therapy so it balances out, right?).

Ah, the joys and challenges of growing older, aging isn't for wimps, it's hard work, lol.
