Orange Tabby...He Stays and His Name is Finn (Update with Videos Dec 31)

Pics
Well, I don't like him spraying and marking the porch and I don't know what diseases he may carry. I have not heard another fight, but I have not seen Finn on camera within 45 minutes of this cat being up there, so they're probably missing each other. Of course, he's not the only cat that I've seen around here, but he's the only one I've actually seen take on Finn.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude or anything ha didn't realize he was marking too.

And that makes sense! Must be missing each other like you said. And yeah, weird he's not scared of Finn.

Maybe you could trap him and get him neutered and vaccinated and then release him again? Or at least maybe take him a shelter and they can do that release him elsewhere or adopt him out?

You weren't rude, it was a legitimate question. In that last photo, the other cat is marking the bench. He seems to be a big, healthy critter, doesn't he?

Finn is up on all his shots, of course, not even a flea on him, but it bugs me when other cats are invading his domain, the deck where all his beds are located. But, it does beg the question: does Finn go other places, too? I don't know if Finn goes very far. He's rarely gone for long, usually within earshot and comes running when you call him, but he came to us as an obvious outdoor cat and we can't keep him inside. He'd go nuts and does if we refuse to let him outside. If I was going to actually get a cat intentionally, I'd probably have kept it inside or locked it in the barn with the chickens so it had little time to roam.

The local Humane Society is full up on cats. If I trapped that dark cat, I'd probably have to call animal control to pick him up. He may or may not be adoptable, can't say since he doesn't come up to us at all.

That would be my primary concern with the stray hanging around. Wouldn't want to risk Finn catching something from the intruder.

I didn't realize he was marking and thought he was just standing there LOL

They say cats roam a lot further than people think. I think they did a Nature documentary on it.

Some cats are hard to adopt as they are too feral and used to being outside but then others, like Finn, love being pets or maybe were dumped and used to be a pet before so it's easier. Strays are usually easier than true ferals born there I think but not always

We had an incident last night with this same cat. About 10:30-ish, I was in bed and heard a cat fight outside my window, yelled for DH, who ran out. He said, "Finn's right here." meaning the back door that is just down from my bedroom window I keep slightly cracked open. Then, DH went to the kitchen door and said he heard something run and the motion activated light on the steps was on.
So, I downloaded the game camera. First, I have a few pics from yesterday a.m. with one of them where Finn is acting like something is on the side of the house where our garbage is kept.

And then, last night into this morning, which shows a sequence with Finn leaving, didn't catch him coming back up before the dark cat did, though I know he did because he ran that cat off, and the black cat running up here, then being all puffed out and finally, hoofing it off the deck.

I'm about to call this "Cat Life", LOL. I wish I had enough game cams to post them all over the deck to watch the goings-on back there. Maybe I should move it to the back side of the house where all the fights seem to take place, near Finn's heated condo he sleeps in near my bedroom window.

I have one out pointing to the pasture already, can't justify buying a 3rd one. I just moved the deck one to the back area and we'll see what we see from there. I'd love to have an entire security system with multiple cameras around the property, but too pricey, unfortunately.

That makes sense! I've been thinking about buying a game cam or two, just to see what kinds of wildlife we have around haha
