Orange trees in Arkansas

If it freezes there, they probably will not do to well.

Here a freeze warning is big news. Avos and citrus are protected either with big fans to keep the frost from settling or smudge (sp) pots to heat the groves.

I am not really sure how much it freezes there, we are in Montana right now and it is hard to get anything to survive -50F winters. I can't wait to be going to a place where I can grow things!!!

These two I plan on bringing in the house for winter. What's the sense of having an super sized kitchen (when the rest of the house is so tiny) if you can't turn it into an orange grove if you want to.

I SO want an orange tree but I have photos of Delilah destroying the 3 year old dwarf orange tree in a pot..... I currently live where orange trees and groves are all around. O wah!

Dunno if they grow at 2000 foot elevation, but I'm gonna try again at the new house. With fencing around it to protect it until it's old enough to stand up against chickens.

Love the scent of the blooms. I hope you get yours to live and thrive!

And I, you! I'm so glad you had a great visit with your Dad - and I SURE hope your orange trees thrive!

Lotsa times I wanted to shoot a PM to you or point out something funny you absolutely NEEDED to see in a timely fashion, and darn..... you weren't around. Glad to see your name on posts and threads again.

Do you realize there is a citrus quarantine imposed on the state of Florida? No citrus plants in or out of the state.

Then they shouldn't be selling them *at the Florida Welcome Center* just south of the Florida/Georgia border, now should they?

Kat, we just cover our lime/orange and lemon trees if we are going to have a freeze. They'll be fine. If nothing else, all you have to do is bring them on the porch during really cold weather.
