Ava dug through the snow, looking for something to eat. There wasn't a blade of grass or insect in sight.

Sumi flew into a tree with ease. She clucked contentedly and fluffed her black feathers.


Legolas turned his head sharply. "Did you hear something?" He asked Zippy.

"No," Zippy replied. He stopped scratching through the undergrowth to listen.

Mel sighed again. "Your father was from a different flock," she explained. "Your mother was very independent and she decided to go to his flock, but we decided to keep you, her chicks, as we could see you both as strong chickens one day." She said, hoping to gain his approval.

"So,we will never see her again?" He crief."Well,maybe the flocks can make peace,or or,you could separate ne,and send with mom,plus,I never met my daddy..."His cry grew baddet.

Mel tried desperately to calm him down. "Of course you will see her again, we could even invite her onto our territory tomorrow, if you are up to meeting her." Mel said quickly, cringing at the chicks attitude.

(Chickens can't really cry, but they can make sounds of distress, and chickens don't hug each other, they have other ways of showing affection )
