Hi everyone! I am a new member to BYC, and I recently ordered 11++ butterscotch call duck eggs. This is my first time with calls, though I have hatched other breeds, and helpful tips would be greatly appreciated! I have hatched ducks 3 seasons now. The first year, they were chocolate Indian runners and 4 out of 7 hatched! The second year, they were mallards and only one of 6 hatched, she had to be helped... A LOT. We got her a companion Rouen as a duckling, and the next year we incubated 8 of her eggs, and 5 hatched! Two of the eight had to be helped with hatching. I have heard that calls are hard to hatch due to small bills, but I am experienced in helping hatches. I am still in school, though, so I will not be around all the time to check on them. I would just like to know about any information that I need to know about hatching calls. Thanks!:D

I will keep you all updated on how the incubation and hatching goes, they have not arrived yet.

Edit: I am incubating them with an incubator, not a hen

I think ducks are adorable but, afraid I don't know much about them. Your questions would best be answered on the "Duck thread." Please put that in the search box and it will come up. Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock - glad you joined us
