Ordering chicks through mail

So the local guy's price is comparable.... go local!

I can't understand "straight run" on an auto sexing breed??? Does that mean the mail order hatchery is going to send me 75% roos to unload some of them? Seems suspicious!

I think there are risks with any purchasing format. Bottom line - if the price is worth it to you - go for it!

I would say to just get the extra chicks. You're basically giving them money for free when you could be getting something in return by buying the xhicks. You can always try and sell the chicks for what they cost when they arrive or use them for more laying hens

I ordered 15 chicks from Cackle and got them two weeks ago. We wanted specific breeds and paid $150 bucks for them. We got Silkies, Splash Amercaucanas, Easter Eggers and White Polish. They ended up sending us 21 chicks and all of them have been healthy and wonderful! It's the first time we have had chickens and because we wanted those specific breeds it was worth the additional money we paid! So I say go for it!
