My wife and I are new to raising chickens. Our coop is complete and we are ready to order our first chicks. We are wanting to have a mixed flock, but are not certain on what breeds will tolerate each other and get along. I have done some research but haven't been able to find any solid reliable information concerning the breeds we are wanting to mix in our flock. Could anyone provide any insight on mixing the following breeds. All hens BTW...

Rhode Island Reds (3)
Silver Laced Wyandotte (3)
Gold Laced Wyandotte (3)
Barred Plymoth Rock (2)
Sicilian Buttercup (2)

I currently have over a dozen different breeds mixed together with very few issues. What I have found is if you are adding them at different times, to make sure each new addition, that there are a few together so they can buddy up. I have a couple bantams mixed in to. 1 is indifferent and ignored, 2 are towards the top of the pecking order, and 1 gets chased around all the time (This one was originally introduced by herself too)

Of the breeds mentioned above, I have a BLR, GL, SL Wyandotte, and a Barred rock hen. I have found that the wyandottes aren't as friendly as some of my other breeds. The barred rock is a sweetheart. I dont have them but have heard that Rhode Island Reds can be very agressive.

If you haven't considered the following breeds, I would highly recommend them: Orpintons, Cochins, (both of these can be broody is that is an issue), Faverolles, and for pets/layers-Easter Eggers can't be beat!
