I ordered 8 , two month old purple peafowl on Jan 23 2017. Ordered and paid. In hopes of getting on the first shipping list. Here it is Sep. And no birds. I have been very patient until two weeks ago. Then I lost my patience and demanded my money back and my birds. I ordered from Stromberg's hatchery. I have emailed, I called. For a week straight. Finally got a response after a very nasty email I sent. They said please be patient , its not too late. If I wish I can get my money back. She would check with breeder to see how much longer. I insisted on money back and my birds. I told her to check with breeder and let me know. No response again. So I called and a lady said she would contact breeder and call me back. Am I being unreasonable? Was I wrong to lose my cool? Am I holding out false hope? I really want those birds. I have been prepared since may. They say order early for June shipment on their site. But she told me on phone July to Sep. Last year they came late too, end of August. But only after I said I would take whatever colors, not the ones I ordered. I want my birds and I feel they should at least give me some money back. Its been 9 months. I am going to give it to last week of Sep. And give up. I don't know what to do? Anyone got any ideas? Should I be patient or should I be pissed? Thanks. Peafowl phil

Strombergs is a reputable company but if you have been waiting that long and are having that much issue I would wait another week, call and if you get no where tell them you will be contacting the Better Businee Bureau in their area. They will help you to get your money back. Plus unfortunately for strombergs they will get a black mark against their company. Also make complaints on line so others are aware so they don't fall into the same trap. I hate to have to do something like that but if they are not showing good faith then I would warn them and then do it if it doesn't get resolved. I hope this helps.

Thanks. I ordered last year because they had a good reputation. And though I feel I settled last year. I raised 7 out of 8 healthy peafowl. And ended up quite happy. This year, I'm not. I don't want to settle for colors I already have. And I don't want to give them a bad review. I ordered and paid before they even had the new catalog out. To insure a first spot on their list. I understand things happen. Maybe death of purple breeding stock or something. But they could have let me know way earlier. I would have been understanding. At this point its too late in the season to order elsewhere. She says they are right on track. But their website says June. So, I dunno. Our weather here is very unusual. We had one week we almost got frost. And we should have . but we are in a warm.weather pattern. October looks the same. So I am holding out hope they will deliver. I am not a.nasty guy. But boy, I'm having a hard time with this. I really think they should send my birds and give me a discount. I won't ever order from them again no matter what the result is. And I'm more angry I think that they have made me feel this way. I built a special place stocked up on grain, etc. And the lady says , yes but they are two months old. I said i paid for two months old last year and they didint have a feather on them. So , they could not have been two months old. And furthermore , i said the one that died had cecal worm. These birds have never touched the ground in my care nor been with any other poultry. So i know they came that way. But i had them tested and treated after i got the autopsy results on the dead bird. Thanks for your response. I know it is darn late to be getting birds here but, I'm still holding out hope. I hate emailing and calling them over and over. I feel like a difficult customer. Thank you for input. Phil

I am sorry for your frustration. I don't think you are being unreasonable. When one has an investment in these animals (for me it is emotional...I love my chickens) and prepare, get excited and have expectations, it is so disappointing to have what you believe to be a credible business not fulfill their end of the transaction.
This is my second year with chickens. The first year was wonderful. So I spent hours over last winter learning about care, breeds, etc. When it came time to order in early spring, I went through a local business with a good reputation in our tiny community. I still have so much to learn, but I am a nurse so one of the things I did know for sure was that I did not want to go get the chicks on "chick day". Having hundreds of chicks arrive at once with hurried unattentive staff did not sound like healthy conditions. And it wasn't. Through a series of blunders and not following through on their part, I ended up with sick chickens and have been living a nightmare for 19 weeks now. 4 out of 8 died and even one of my older, healthy girls.
So I just wanted to say I'm sorry for what you are going through. And point out that if you already received a bird from them that you believe came to you not healthy, you might be better of just getting your money back. But only you know your situation best. Good Luck to you.

Peafowl Phil... I'm not sure if you are on facebook or not but there is a group called Peacocks Only. I advertised in there that I was looking for purple chicks and was able to find mine. (purple and purple blackshoulder) Also found a bronze white eye pair. Both took paypal and shipped quickly, they arrived in a little bit of stress but with the heatlamp and some fluids they are doing great now. Might be an idea for you. I thought about ordering from the hatchery but they gave me the run around when I called so a friend & I went this route and we are happy with the results :)
