ordering silkies

i want to order my daughter a few silkies for a coop that i built for her. Any idea when i should order them or when feed stores start taking orders for them? i live in north texas. i know this is a question for the local feed stores but she is asking me now and you guys generally know everything.

Here, they show up in the feed stores around February, though they pick the breeds and I'm not sure I've ever seen any Silkies. Sometimes they will let you choose a breed before they place their order, and include it. Since you are in Texas, you might want to check this out, also:

Around easter is usually a safe bet here, but michigan spring and texas spring is way different.. You can order from an online hatchery anytime of year, but usually until around march they have 15 chick minimums.. After march they generally only have 3 chick minimum orders
