Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Also, in Microsoft Word you should be able to save the document as a PDF. The option is at the bottom of the Print window in MS Word 2004--it might be in a different location in MS Word 2007.

Update time again!

ZooMummzy

Bringing
-Serama Hatching Eggs
-Serama chicks, about 6-8 weeks old by swap time so they will be sexed. I will be selling most of them as pairs or trios (if I have that many hatch), but will know better once I have an accurate count of pullets/cockerels. They will be from my lines. I have a frizzled roo and a silkied roo and several roosters with the frizzled gene. Lots of different colors - spangled, tri and mottled colored, penciled in white/black/gray, buff, peach, mille fleur (hen and roo) and one hen that is pretty close to a chocolate with black penciling.
-Asian Pears (if it's a good harvest year)
-Tomatoes, squash, whatever else I can collect from my plants and my neighbor's garden (she always has so much to share) by then
-Cheesecakes - dessert and two new twists, savory (these will be smaller in size) and bars - list forthcoming for all

Walltenters

Bringing
Dominiques, Orpingtons and Americaunas
- Hatching eggs... These will probably be fall breeding pens by then
- Chicks (I'll hatch them about a month before the swap, I hope, so will be nearly feathered out)
- Started Laying Pullets
- Meat Cockerels.. Eating birds, delicious, free range birds that will be great size for eating by fall swap time!
- Breeding Pullets - we will be hatching more eggs here soon, and should have several extra pullets of each breed to bring to the fall swap.
- Breeding Cockerels - we breed to standard and will have more cockerels than we need for our programs.

BY REQUEST!!!!
I will hatch out chicks of a breed of your choice. I'll try first to find local hatching eggs, but might ship them in if I can't find a breeder to meet me at one of the shows here in the Northwest. Will raise them at least a month before swap, but I have to know way ahead of time to make the connections. I only like to buy show quality/breeder quality eggs, and I prefer hatching American and heritage English birds, but wouldn't mind doing a few other breeds. Please no silkies! Prices will vary - cost of the eggs, age of the chicks by the swap, etc. I do keep track of all my expenses including electric for incubating and brooding, so I know what my bottom line is per day, varying a small amount with feed efficiency of the chicks.

Wanting
- Always want show/breeder quality hatching eggs, I love American and English breeds, heritage is always good
- Food to can/preserve! I will have a first year garden this year, so I'm looking for fruits/veggies to preserve - would like to buy in bulk!
- Might consider a nice B/B/S Orpington pullet or two, nice large show/breeder quality birds
- A nice Blue Americauna pullet with lines to compliment what Rhonda's got already... please email me - my inbox is super full!

What do you all think- would anyone be interested in mutt pullets at the swap?

I have never been to a swap so I am not sure if its worth bringing them along if no one on this thread wants them. I have 3? 4? broodies now sitting on eggs. And this is in addition to my Aloha project culls who are turning into very pretty birds- even the ones that don't look right. All the birds will be old enough to sort by the time the swap gets here, and I assume the cockerals aren't worth bringing. Likely, the broodies' chicks will all end up black as my dominant roo is a (black) Blue Andalusian. I DO NOT WANT more black chickens! The possible mothers include a variety of dual purpose hens (wyandottes, orpingtons, barred rock) So they are probably going to be largish birds that lay pretty well. I get large light brown eggs from all the girls, but Andalusians are said to be prolific white egg layers. I wouldn't know, since the only one I managed to hatch was a boy. So I will have a bunch of extra mixed breed dual purpose pullets in a variety of colors available for the swap... should I bring them all?

I am also considering bringing my silver penciled wyandotte and one of my columbian wyandotte hens. It isn't that I dislike them, but with me collecting so many more chickens, I should really rehome some of the ones I don't feel attached to. They'll be 2 1/2 when the swap comes around, but they still lay very well. The reason I am not sure about bringing them is that they are older and hatchery quality, so neither trait is particularly desireable. But they are healthy mature laying hens who are great dog-savvy free rangers. Maybe I could donate them to the raffle? I don't really want to get money out of them as much as I want them to have a good home. They are not particularly sociable (my others are much friendlier and these two stay behind them) but they would be great if someone just wanted a few hens to lay eggs, maybe while their new babies grew up? Can we have chickens in the raffle? And how would this work if I don't want my cage to go with them?

My mutt pullets - bantams at that - went like crazy at the spring swap. I could have rehomed at least a dozen more if I had them
smile.png
I think a lot of people just like a variety of chickens, doesn't need to be a specific breed or quality.

Oregonjen was looking for wyandottes....you might want to PM her.

And yes, we can raffle off chickens at the swap - minus the cage. Everyone will be able to enter tickets for the items they want to win, so it won't just be a random "you've won this!" type of thing. I think that would be a great idea.

I'd like some. What will you have? I would like a bunch of babies, but feathered ones and teenagers are ok too.

Wanna trade anything?

... I just re-read it... do you mean adults? Those are good too!
