Anyone know any good organic layer feed I can buy and where to buy it? How much does it usually cost? I haven't seen any at my tractor supply, but I may not have been looking hard enough.

I have been talking to these folks:

I want to carry their feed as its not only organic but certified GMO free, the problem is they are on the COMPLETE other side of the country and the freight is killer, almost as much as a ton of grain.

I would call around to all your local stores and see what is available in organic. I feed an organic soy-free grower. The stores near me do not carry a layer in the soy-free but they do have the grower (which I personally prefer) but you can just add a outside calcium source like oyster shell to get the same effect as a layer if your choices are limited.

You can also find a few brands online. Shipping is alot but you can try to find someone locally to go in on orders to reduce that.

Expect to buy $30 + per 40lb or 50lb bag plus shipping if you have to ship.

I was under the impression that Scratch & Peck was GMO free but not organic. Has that changed?

Tractor supply doesn't carry organic here. Do you have any feed stores around? I believe Cashton Feed is in MI & is organic. There should be a few you can get out there. Maybe Nature's Best Organic, they are widely distributed from PA. I think if you search organic feed in Michigan, you will find some & then find their distributors. Good luck.

hmmmm, I'll call her today. I was under the understanding it was GMO free AND organic, maybe I was wrong. I'll post back after I talk to them.
