organic layer feed

I feed my flock organic when I can afford to. That said, organic certification does not require something to be non-gmo. Label will tell you whether it is, or not, organic and non-gmo. If it just says organic, it could contain gmos. Organic simply means only non chemically processed fertilizers, and pest control was used in growing the ingredients.

Organic does actually require non-gmo.

Unfortunately, there is cross contamination between gmo and non gmo crops, so that is an issue.

In the US organic is a label imposed by the USDA with specific hoops that the producer must go through - it doesn't necessarily mean better for you. Food can be grown organically without earning the organic label (ask the farmers at your local farmers market if their stuff is "organic") and "organic" labeled food can be borderline edible and still carry the label. In general, organic means limited use of artificial pesticides. Details here.
