I don't want to use regular pesticides on my vegetable garden but the bugs are starting to take over

. Is there anything that I could make or do that would be organic?

I know dish soap does wonders for cabbage worms, thats not exactly organic though. I don't have many bugs in the garden anymore since I let my poultry free range, they eat the bugs.

As to tobacco based insecticides.... Yes they are deadly to bugs. They are ALSO deadly to humans. If you're already a smoker, than I don't think it's relevant. If however you are trying to avoid things that cause cancer, you may want to avoid using tobacco as an insecticide. In particular old ciggarette butts that will contain more than just natural tobacco. They will have ALL the chemicals that those companies lace ciggs with, and if you put it on your veggies, and then you put it in your mouth, its gonna get into your body. And I can only imagine that while that cabbage grows it is gonna wrap its leaves around itself to form the head and trap some of that stuff down in there where you can't wash it off....

Unless you have a field full of cabbage, a few minutes every morning or evening picking the little buggers off is effective. OG certified "BT" or baccillus thuringiensis would be safer than cigg butts, and specifically targets only caterpillars.
