btw. Can i know what position in this company is are you a pr rep? or a bussiness manager. It would also be in your best interest to contact customer and surveys of what people think.

I was looking though your rules and regulations i did find a few issues with it but no where did i see the writing "must sell only to us" and in the poultry i would watch out about 7.Egg storage area holding 60 degrees or less with a thermometer present. it should be held at 45 degrees and i would like to know if your coolers are usda inspected

becasue if ours was found at 60 degrees the usda rule book sure would be out on us.

My only question is if their decision was so clear cut, why was the vote so close? Kinda sounds like even the board/directors who run things were not so unanimous in their decision of upholding what is "best for the cooperative as a whole" and their need "to remain focused on Organic Valley's traditional model of production and distribution of premium quality, organic, pasteurized milk products". I find that very interesting indeed.

Well, one more reason to get my own dairy cow and start getting milk that way. LOL - which reminds me of the old saying "If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself" .... or something along those lines anyway.

If my lot wasn't so small I would be getting a cow.

Good nutritious dairy is a big part of my diet.

Of course, that leaves out anything ultra-pasteurized since it stops being good and nutritious once you cook it to death.

Here's a great article for you, and there is a similar one in this month's copy of Mother Earth!
http://www.motherearthnews.com/Sustainable-Farming/Small-Breed-Milk-Cows.aspx

I even 'suggested' a goat to ease hubby into the idea and he flipped! We live in a neighborhood with neighbors and kids and stuff and not a farm! (I got told!) But in my defense one of our neighbor's bought up building lots in the 'neighborhood' and has her 3 horses grazing it. Its not exactly suburbia... and I'm not the only one with chickens. *growl*

Anyways, I would like to hear thought from anyone raising their own dairy cows?!

I have to say I agree with the "co-op".
Some of you want it both ways. That's not whats best for the "Co-Op". The farmers are free to be a member of the "Co-Op" or not be a member. If you don't like the agreement sign with another "Co-Op", or form another. A "Co-Op" is not like a privately owned company.

Quite frankly I don't buy organic milk, though I would like to. I'm poor and can't afford it.

No one is forcing anyone to sign on the dotted line. Each farm is free to choose. If you don't and fold then you get no sympathy from me. United we stand , divided we fall. It's all about what's best for the Team.

Those of you who want "raw milk" should form you own, "raw milk" co-op. Just don't cry when you can't sell enough "raw milk" to survive.
