Next thursday, if Im very lucky (knock knock) Ill be hatching some ameraucanas, some blue orps, and some blue rocks. Now, I know when they start hatching youre not supposed to open the incubator until its over with. So how will I know who is who? Its not like one breed is black and one is white. What can I do so that I know who are the rocks, the orps, and the americaunsa?

where did you get blue rock eggs??? please I have been wanting some!!!!

Can you split the bator into sections with some card board or similar. That way when they hatch they can't leave there area and you will know who is who. Not sure this will work but just trying to come up with something.

The orps should have lighter feet than the rocks, shouldn't they? Orps typically have white skin and rocks have yellow. I don't know if that's true on blue tho..maybe on the bottom of the feet.

I was wondering the same thing. I want to be able to tell which chicks come from what pen. I think I'll try dividing w/cardboard and see if that will help to keep them seperated long enough for them to fluff up and me be able to get a leg band on them.

When I want to keep hatching chicks seperated I make a divider out of cardboard and duck tape the ends of it to the sides of my incubator to make a wall between the 2 sides.

Ah HA!! I knew someone would have a great idea, and both of you gals did. Thats exactly what Ill do. Im sure I can tell the Americaunas from the blue orps, so Ill just separate the rocks from everyone else and maybe put a little twisty around their tootsies. Thanks, you guys "rock" (blue rocks, get it? bad.....).
