http://imageshack.us/g/714/1000088z.jpg/ - album of pictures.
I originally built this as a brooder. I then decided to make it twice as big and put two compartments so I could do two different ages of chickens. It just got bigger and bigger as I built it. Maybe the pictures aren't 100% clear but it's a 4'x8' house with a 8'x8' run attached to it. Split down the middle both inside and out. A door on each end and doors that latch from the inside because I was too lazy to predator proof it.
Anyways I know my chickens won't be living in this thing forever and I was already anticipating other uses for it. One idea included quail. The other idea was possibly breeding pens. But I really don't know much about breeding. The dimensions are 16 square feet inside and 32 square feet outside per side.. or a total of 32 square feet inside and 64 square feet outside. Would this be too cramped for breeding? I was thinking about 2 hens 1 rooster per side. I would probably do silkies just because of their popularity.
Well I've rambled on long enough. If you have any good ideas or answers about breeding I'd love to hear it.
