I am a new chicken mom in Orinda, California. I got my chicks from concord feed in August. Still figuring everything out but really enjoying it. I have 7 hens and 1 rooster. Not sure that I can keep the rooster or if I want to (he is very loud). They have great personalities!

Welcome. If you can keep the rooster, I would. Roosters are awesome and I believe every flock needs a rooster. While they may seem "loud" to you, you will soon see that many of your hens will be "loud" also. Roosters keep order in a flock, protect with their lives and always make the welfare of their hens more important then themselves. I cannot say enough good things about them.
