I would have offered to help, but since I entered a few of the contests it'd open a possibility to cheating (though I wouldn't do that)

its alright. i love your birds they are so pretty. do you ever sell any eggs from them?
I usually did not because up until recently I only kept games and they have such a short laying season (Spring-late summer typically) I hatched all I could and occasionally sold mature birds. I really prefer it that way so I can judge the quality of the birds being sold, to make sure any culls don't slip through. I'm slowly working my way out of the games and keeping only Kraienköppe though, I've not raised any of them as I only started with them this February but I notice that at least one or two hens seems to be taking a interest in the nest now (no eggs yet). Not sure if they will lay this winter or not, if not that is fine as spring is only a few months

.

Once I have just the Kraienköppe, if they lay extremely well I realize I'll have a surplus of eggs and possibly limited space (though I have enough room to keep hundreds, if not in pens- free ranging) if I raise enough offspring. If they throw good birds then I may consider trying to sell some, but for now I'm focusing on raising as many as I can and culling down to hopefully only the best.. I've got two cockerels I plan to use for breeding and for now somewhere between 6-8 hens I believe that meet my requirements fairly well.

Also got some projects I want to try eventually, possibly using a Kraienkopp cockerel over a Shamo hen I think has at least a pea comb modified by the walnut gene (as I won't use a pea comb in my breeding program, only walnut and in this case a hen I believe to be a walnut/pea; it's not a walnut but isn't a proper pea comb) and also a Malay cockerel which though a bantam I think will help the project in weight/possibly type. I doubt the project eggs will be available, but if the "pure" ones work out- maybe some of those only from pairs that I find to throw good offspring as I don't want to sell culls.

God bless,
Daniel.
