Hello. I have a Buff Orp hen who is egg bound, and has been so for two days. She is definitely not comfortable at this point. I have tried every common method to fix it, to no avail. At this point in time I think it would probably be kinder to cull her than let her suffer. What do you think? Should I wait it out or cull her? Also, because I would hate to let her carcass go to waste, would it be safe to eat her?

Sorry about your hen... If this has been going on for awhile and she is looking uncomfortable I, personally, would cull her. They can survive quite a while when laying internally, and I have kept pet hens around that still acted OK, but it usually becomes a quality of life issue at some point and the kindest thing to do for the hen is to cull her.
I would check very carefully what is going on internally when you process her in case she has something else going on that started the problem (tumors etc), but otherwise I don't see any reason you could not use the meat.

Alright, thank you so much. I will tell my mother. She is friends with an avian vet, whom she wants to call and question first, but at this point in time I think I am probably just going to cull her as we cannot really afford an expensive vet trip.
