first time posting,
today I acquired 8 2 week old chicks and don't have a heat lamp for them! its burned out and the shops are closed. I've put them in the warmest room in the house its about 80 degrees, with a heating pad under half of their brood box and put a couple of hot water bottles wrapped in cloth. they aren't crowding together or tending towards the warm side of the box but they are making a huge racket so I don't think they are happy. any ideas for emergency set ups to get them the through the night?
also they had been with their mother so far and quiet down if I stick my hands in the box and crown around my hands, could the noise just be that they miss their mother?
