Hi all,
Does anyone have orpington bantams and if so, do you recommend them, what are they like?

I don't know of anyone who's had bantam orpintons, giving your post a bump to see if anyone else will jump on here.

I've never seen them anywhere except the Cackle Hatchery catalog. But they're cute! I bet their temperament is probably similar to standard Orpingtons, which, in my experience is great.

Oh, how are they, in your experience? Good with other breeds?
I have 3 BBS Orpingtons, but they're not quite 6 weeks old. So adult temperament of them, I can't speak to yet. But they integrated very well with my flock at about 4 weeks old. They get along with everyone and they're docile with me. I can easily pick them up for health checks, and I've never been nipped. I've got a flock of 11 bantams and 5 LF birds, including the 3 Orpingtons. Cochins, d'Uccles, an OEGB, a sebright, brahmas, a silkie, and some other breeds.

But, 2 of my close friends have Orpingtons that are several years old. One has buffs, and they are very sweet birds. They are good with her kids and don't cause any trouble in the flock. The other has a couple of buffs and a crele. They are also great birds. Very good temperaments, good with her kids, and not trouble makers.

I've not had either one tell me they've ever gone broody, but I also haven't asked, so I'm unsure of that aspect. I do know that they are good layers, though.

I'm really looking forward to watching mine grow up. I made a post about them yesterday. I'll try to link it.

I agree with @AnneGirlGG , standard orpingtons are typically docile. I have two standard buff orpingtons, and one is very docile but the other is very skittish! I do think they are generally friendly though. Both of them have gone broody, and they are only about a year and a half old.

I have some bbs bantam orpingtons there personally is close to the large size fowl. They lay medium size average 4 a week.
