I`m new to chickens and this website but I saw lavender orpingtons. Which two colors do you use to make this color? I really want some. Chris

You don't get it just by crossing two colors.

Lavender or ( self blue) is a recessive gene that dilutes black and red colors, So if you bred a lavender to a black, you would get all black chicks that are split for lavender, meaning they carry the lavender gene, but don't physically show it. If you cross these chick together or cross them back to a lavender, you would get more lavender chicks but the percenatges would vary. And once you cross lavender to lavender, you will get all lavenders. So basicly you would have to get lavenders to start with or one lav roo to breed to black hens.
