Back from a week long trip from Vegas. And I come home to find my father had put the Game Rooster(I got from the animal shelter, Asil i think) in with my Buff Orpington Hen. They get along just fine. I got her for eggs, but my dad read online about Orpingtons are great for eating and he wanted to get chicks so he can eat them when they grow up. Does anyone know what the chicks will look like or any gamefowl crossed with any orpington. Just wondering. Thanks

the best chickens for meat would be a cornish mix (usually with rocks or orps think). they grow fast and are ready to butcher at about 10-15 weeks if i remember right

Aren't Asils the ancestor of cornish chickens? (The breed kind not the fast growing cross breed). I have no clue what they would look like but it would be a interesting project bird.

im not sure on that. i just know that i am one day planing on getting some cornish and some orps to cross so i can have meat birds. i would also let my kids show the 2 breeds in 4-h so they will serve multi purposes as most eggs i would get from them would be incubated so for eggs they would be out on that lol

Now that's a win win all the way around
