Orpington hen or roo?

I'd be curious to know if he really is 4 1/2 months old. I know that's what you were advised, but to me he looks much younger.

I got my BO cockerel at 4 months and he had well developed sickle, saddle and hackles even at that young age. I guess your boy could be a slow developer though. Or mine was fast!

Honestly, I have NO faith in the age estimate. If it's younger than 4.5 months, would it make this bird even more likely to be a roo? It's so frustrating working with "breeders" that really don't know what they are talking about. I was new to all of this, found someone who had lots of exciting breeds of chickens and trusted her. It turned out to be a learning experience. Instead of chasing after super rare chickens, I should have looked for a knowledgable, quality breeder to help me get my flock started.
