Hello I'm looking for experienced opinions on my 4 cockerels of varying ages. They are currently chilling in the Cockpit awaiting their fate. @ColtHandorf

Are you sure those are Orpingtons?

What exactly are you wanting to know? If their fate is freezer camp, I’m sure they’ll be well behaved there…

Regarding type, even for APA type Orpingtons, they don’t look good at all. Their color is also very off. Better pics might help, but I’d still probably say to eat them…

Ugh, I was thinking that was going to be the answer. I got them from someone who had good blood lines, but obviously didn't maintain them. I've had no luck between shipped eggs, a weasel, and bacteria in the brooder this year and this was what I've been left with. 4 buff Orpington cockerels. The rest are just mutts to keep the freezer stocked.
I'll attempt better light and get my child labour to hold them still. But I'm sure the answer will be the same, lol

Looking forward to new pics. Could be wrong, and if they are really from quality lines you mate wait until they are 12-18 months to seal their fate if there are no obvious DQs like side sprigs or squirrel tail.

Bird A approximately 6 months. His tail is filthy and I don't like his lankiness

Bird B approximately 3 months. I think he has yellow shanks, so he'll be tasty.

Bird C approximately 4-5 months. Didn't get a picture of bird D but I think he has yellow shanks. Soi only have 2 maybe ok birds.

Honestly I’d say eat them all. :/ They are all very lanky. And normally it takes a while for them to fill out, but the two lanky ones are tallllll.
