hey Walt, we took him to twin tiers poultry show , at just about 7 months he was really at his peak..couldnt look better..its a real nice show , has three judges every year. and people from all over show up, a lot are following breed specials and points they were from ,ohio, maryland , virginia, ny, p, nj ect..a its a pretty good time..super nice people who really want to see you do your best..we took off from the show for a while and had some lunch ect..toured some winerys , when we got back he had won BB, BV, Reserve champion english, and best orpington award..i didnt know weather to laugh or cry. i seriously had my mind made up that the dark cornish had the reserve english sewn up boy he was a picture of perfection to me..im pretty hard on myself thou..and see only flaws .seems we were better..no way to beat bob whitneys australorp hen shes as near perfect as a chicken can be..we worked really hard to get there... was a whole summers labor of love for sure.. sadley the coboskill show was cancelled the whole area was flooded , fairgrounds had been underwater..you have never seen such a mess in your whole life..there is a table set up at the show every year for poultry press..i had no idea you could run one of those little thank you ads there or i would have done that..all the years i have gone there and i never knew what they were there for, thought they were just taking subscription orders..duh lynne.

earlier pic at about 5 mos.
forgive my photo, photographer i am not..if there is a bad pose i usually find it.

I can see enough to know that he is a very good boy. From the looks of him he will do even better when he gets a bit older. He looks great right now! Good job!!

Before a show my birds always look great. As I pack them up they start to look less great and when I get to the show Friday night they look horrible to me, but we always do OK. I just start picking them apart.

You folks got a lot of water back there.

Walt, you are a great inspiration of everyone in here and a knowlagble voice .i am somone who only sees the flaws and I tend to get too focued on them..Your right. I thought he had hit his stride, but every day he seems to get better..hes a real gift..and boy the flooding here was horrible and historic..its wierd to drive up to a neighboring town and seeing all the damage..and people working around in haz-mat suits..things are slowly returning to normal..but everyone is weary and a little punchy ..the national guard just left town..weird from our highway exit north and west wernt hit hardly at all, but to the east got slammed.binghamton and owego were almost unrecognisable..lot of people managed to get around it to go show..high class numbers..so that was good, people really needed the escape for a day..just being there was a badly needed smile..wasnt expecting to win a thing.

Thanks! We have flooding around the Russian River about 15 miles from me here in Northern Calif, so I know what it looks like. It is a terrible thing and if unexpected even that much more terrible. I remember that the smell in flooded houses is not something anyone would want to deal with and the silt is everywhere. I had a close call in a flood. We were in a storm and decided to pull over and take a nap hoping that the rain would subside. When I woke up I was surrounded by water and it looked like my car was sitting on top of the water in a lake. I could not see any place that was not under water. That could of ended up bad! We had to have one guy walk in front of the car so that I knew where the road was...it really looked like we were a boat on a lake. Good luck with that male. Let me know how he does, he looks great in the pic!

the cockeral actually got BB, BV, and reserve champion english.. you see i had my mind made up that the dark cornish had the reserve sewn up..but i almost fainted when they moved my birdy onto champion row..i really wasnt expecting any more than a day away from flood ravaged towns..our pullet got RV.... i think somone said there were 1100 birds this year but im not really sure about that..good turnout..like i said people just needed to get away for a day.
here is a pic of him being moved to champion row..you might recognise some of the 3 judges that were working that day. i know everybody else has seen these pics about a hundred times LOL. such a happy day after tornadoes in our area, earthquakes and floods..Oh my. I really have HinkJC to thank its thier good breeding , i just had a great time with them.

he is bottom right, they were collecting up thier choices for the rows when i took this picture
