We have lavender orp hens and a lavender orp roo. However, we do have one blue orp and one black orp hen that we could put with them. What can I expect from a lav x blue or a lav x black breeding?

Thanks!

ok, I am also getting into orpingtons. Have a pair of lavs and just hatched 3 babies lavenders.

From what I have researched on here

If you do
Black + Lavender = 100% Black split to Lavender (each chick will look black but carry 1 lavender gene.

Black + Blue = 50% Black / 50% Blue

don't know about lavender x blue.

Hope that helps!
Good Luck!

Orps cant get very high up since they are a heavier breed. My parents orps lay in boxes about 3-4 feet off the ground.

Our buff orp hesitates before even flying down from the coop roost. She is a very calm hen, but does like to announce after laying. I've never known her to try to fly over the gate, like our wyandotte and ameraucana.
