my orpington (buff) is mean and i heard that they are a nicer breed is that true??

Orpingtons in general are considered nice chickens but just like any breed there can be a exception!

I guess any breed can have that 'unruly' one every now and then.

So sorry your's is like that. We have four 20 week old buffs, two boys and two girls and they are sweethearts. Orpingtons are generally known to be very docile chicken breed. Did you raise your Orpington from a young chick or get it once it was older and is it male or female? Our two males are nice but don't like you getting in their 'space'. We do have three Plymouth Barred Rocks who will not let us near them but they were bought at about 8 weeks of age.
