I have a mixed flock with mixed Easter eggers, Jersey Giants, Rhode Island Red and Lavender Orpingtons. We live in central Florida and the girls and Hank free range every day on 17 acres. Everyone is laying except my 5 Orpington hens. Not one single egg in nearly 2 months. They all appear healthy. Any thoughts?

One of them molted a few months ago. I guess they are taking a winter break! I just wondered because the other breeds are still laying.

Completely off topic, but do your Jersey's do good in Fl? We are in central florida as well and I am a bit worried about them in this heat. If they seem ok , do you know where to get them? Or did you order them from a hatchery? I can't find them anywhere

Also, to your question. My Orphingtons stop laying in the winter. My Brahmas are giving me eggs everyday though. I think it's the winter break for them.

Thanks in advance

Following and a question: what are your temperatures? I live in Hawaii and the temps are always constant but I have a hen that just stopped laying. Our hours of light are also constant so I am stumped.

Today our temps reached 87. But a few weeks ago we were having lovely highs in the 60s. My Brahmas tend to lay constant through winter time and my orphingtons always take a break. Not sure how that works though when it's the same temp year round? There body has to cycle at some point, I would think?
