Orps or Rocks?

These are 4 that hatched yesterday that I dont know if they are orps or rocks (what a sentence that was). I think the first two are orps and the last 2 rocks, but Id appreciate some expert advise on these.

Kathy, you may have to wait a bit to be certain, but I'd say you're correct.

thanks, Cyn. I based it on when I hatched just rocks before, they had a lot of cream color underneath. Im 99% sure that the splash is an orp, as I watched that one hatch out. I guess that was stupid letting them hatch alltogether; Ill know better next time.

Looks to me like you have it right too...

look at the leg shanks..rock,rock,orp,orp. I have over 200 over each kind of chicken that I have raised from eggs for many generations.

So I actually read the Standard of Perfection on both breeds, and the leg shanks are entirely different. They are yellow or dusky yellow on rocks. On the orps, they are black or slate. So there will be no doubt who is who.

Its amazing what you can find out when you actually read.
