Looking for ostrich eggs or chicks, or reasonably priced breeders. Any feedback on raising Ostrich is welcome, are they friendly, hard to raise, what do they eat?

First, build a really, really tall fence! A friend of mine got some out in TX - his fence kept getting taller and taller, finally had to rebuild the whole thing at 8 feet.

As far as care and raising I can't help you, but there's a lot of info in this section. Probably need to do a lot of reading before getting eggs or birds anyway.

Good luck!

males get very dangerous and aggressive, especially during mating season. They are easy to care for, but you need at least a 6 foot fence with strong posts. They will graze and eat lots of grass if you have a large pasture for them, otherwise you will have to feed them. All Stock pellets works fine and is the cheapest...they cant digest corn like all ratites. One adult bird can eat 50 lbs a week. The more pasture land you have the cheaper your feed bill will be. Not as bad as they sound if you have the right setup.
