Is anyone else on YouTube?
To be honest, I am hoping to grow my channel Jocelyn Building The Daniels - it’s our family’s homestead vlog, and we plan to build a house debt free. But I’m also watch a fair bit too. So feel free to drop your channels :D for real. I don’t watch tv, I watch YouTube:caf
Or even if there is someone you love to watch. For me it’s Justin Rhodes, fitfarmer, roots and refuge, and Greg Judy - all sustainable agriculture/homestead related.
I hope everyone is having a nice February.

My favorites are "White House on the Hill" and "Cog Hill Farm."
White House On The Hill ordered Dutch Hookbill hatching eggs from me, and broke one in a way that could not even happen in shipping (maybe it was his toddler, maybe him, who dropped it) and completely failed to follow my instructions on hatching, and put a screw (WHAT?!) into the duck end of hatching eggs...I can't even watch YouTube videos from YouTube channels anymore. This guy wrecked hatching eggs THAT WERE HATCHING to make drama on his show.

I will NEVER ship hatching eggs or any living animal to a YouTuber as long as this trend for high drama continues!

It still hurts my heart that one of my duckies is living with this monster....IF my duckie is still alive!

Oh my! I'm so so sorry!

Were your eggs the first go? If it was the first go, the male "Captain" is still alive. If it was the second batch, the two living girls from that batch flew out of their pen and didn't return.

I think I was the first go.

The guy is so careless. How can anyone want to follow that kind of evil? I think he doesn't even know how to raise his own kids, and he's documenting it for any court to see!

Not to start a fight, but some people are just clumsy. Hell, I'm clumsy. Every single person makes mistakes -- it isn't necessarily on purpose. People forget things sometimes, but that doesn't mean that they don't care.
Why did he use a screw on the egg? Was the duckling having trouble hatching? Making a small hole in the shell of a bird that's having trouble hatching can make it easier for the baby to get out.
Maybe I'm wrong about this entire thing, and you're right. Who knows? I understand that you're upset about your eggs, and I'm sorry about them, but I don't think that that's a reason to call someone a "monster," "evil," and even go so far as to accuse them of raising their kids incorrectly.
(I've seen some of their recent videos -- the kids are doing fine, it seems).
Anyway, not trying to seem feisty or rude, but I'm just trying to point out that he may well not have done it on purpose.

I don't watch much homesteading stuff, but I do like ART and BRI. Haven't watched them in a while, but they're a good bunch. Wholesome and clean, beautiful animals (they have a cow, and she is so cute!), and a good family. Their kids are so cute -- especially the newest little tot.

I know what I sent him about hatching these eggs, I know what he and other YouTuber people have said about creating drama to get views, and I have seen his video on hatching the eggs I sent him.

IMHO, if people do not follow instructions about living beings, AND they admit they do so for "drama" to get views, and they document it on camera, they are evil. Yes, this is my opinion.

I am sorry for sending him those eggs, because Hookbill ducks are endangered and deserve people who will treat them with respect.

I am sorry for everyone who follows his channel, because they are indoctrinating themselves with a point of view that disrespects the literally hundreds of generations of people who worked to bring this breed to the place they were before the world wars nearly wiped them out in Europe.

I am crying as I write this. Breeds of animals are not just animals, they are the culmination of centuries of human effort to select for a set of characteristics. You don't know how many of YOUR ancestors worked to keep THEIR ancestors going. You can safely assume (and I say this as a genealogist) that if you have European ancestors, a significant number of them perpetuated the Dutch Hookbill.

IMHO, disrespect for the concept of breeds is quite literally akin to burning a copy of the Gutenberg Bible. And that, too, would be evil.

I’m sorry this upset you ConnieA. But to say that you would never sell eggs to someone on YouTube because you disapprove/had a bad experience with another person isn’t fair. And I honestly feel insulted, because according to your logic I’m now a bad person making up drama and not caring for my animals. Ouch
:hmm

You have every right to pick and choose whom you will sale too. But lumping everyone together simply isn’t right.

Yes there are people who twist things, and amp up drama. And no, I’m not interested in that. There are people on there who are sharing real wisdom in a number of things. And I like me really care about some of the rarer breeds out there. I am especially interesting in Cotton Patch Geese, and Pineywoods Cattle. Woe to me if sharing on YouTube discredits me as a homesteader. I sure don’t see it that way
