I have time on my hands. I don't feel well today.

I spilled hot bacon grease all over the top of my hand yesterday morning while I was fixing breakfast. I poured the excess grease from the pan into a glass jar that was sitting on the counter, then I put the eggs in the pan, then I reached over to move the glass jar out of the way. As I touched it the top half of the jar broke cleanly in half and all the boiling grease cascaded over my hand. OUCH!

The whole top of my hand is swollen this morning. The skin feels leathery. There are second degree burn blisters. If I can keep the blisters from popping open I should be fine. Otherwise I may need to see a doctor.

Just feeding my chickens and myself is about all I feel like doing today!

Ouch is right. If you need to please see a doctor. Burns and hands are not things to take lightly. Speedy recovery

I know that had to hurt! Make sure you drink plenty of liquids to keep your skin hydrated and take Advil or Tylenol for pain. Hope you get better soon.

ouch!!!!! i hope your hands heal quickly! don't really have any advice for burns, so listen to what everyone else says. lmao

If your doc is the kind that will trust your judgment, you could ask for a prescription for the generic version of Silvadene. It's a silver sulfadiazide...or something...antibiotic that works SOOOOOOOOOO well for speeding the healing in burns. I used to be a chef and had a fryer blow giant gobs of oil all over the back of my hand and underneath of my forearm. It was lovely.

I kept if forever until I used the last bit of it, just because it was so awesome for burns.

Rest up. Read a book you've been wanting to read!

please go to the doctor and get some silvdine... burns are nothing to mess around with... I hope you get better soon please don't put tooth paste on it... my daughter was little she had second and third degree burns on both hips both wris and one leg from the knee down to her toes... that was 16 years ago and she still gets seen at the burn hospital... ...

Update on the burn---

I've been packing it with honey and bandaging it up. Honey is supposed to work 50% better than silvadene. For as ugly as it was(the whole top of my hand was one solid blister with fluid swishing back and forth when I moved my hand) it looks pretty good today. Blister is down, natural coloring is returning. There is no sign of infection.

I'm sold on honey for burns.
